A question I have about "Into the Wild" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t understand why the subject of this book, Chris McCandless,

became such a cult figure.

The book itself is extremely well written and compelling. I think author Jon Krakauer should have become the cult figure!

WORTH CONSUMING!

It was quite good, though I’ve heard it was extremely difficult to adapt for the screen. Set in Newfoundland. I’ve never been to Newfoundland but spend some time in Nova Scotia, and the book’s descriptions of life in the maritimes ring very true. A subtle and well-woven story. I don’t think this will ever become an all-time personal favorite, but it does deserve the accolades it has received.

(I actually finished this book a couple of weeks earlier than the “done date” suggests. It won’t let me correct the date yet.)

A story about "A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes" — 6 years ago

I keep getting stuck at the beginning of this book. However there are sections inside which I can open to and follow quite readily. Maybe I shouldn’t force myself to read it through from the beginning to end.

Also, after borrowing it from Josh, I realized I’d already picked it up in a stack of books from the goodwill store. So I really should return his copy.
