all there other albums to me. Maybe the sold out, maybe they didn’t. DCFC has ALWAYS had their hits and their misses. The hits are great. The misses are always below average. What it comes down to for me is this: Ben Gibbards talent is undeniable even if he writes the occasional dud.
Claire Danes, you’ve come a LONG way since My So Called Life! Amazing preformance.
How can movies like Social Network get all these awards and this movie get nothing? It’s completely groundbreaking weather you are a video game nerd or not, it’s pretty obvious this movie shatters a lot of long held conventions in film. I appreciate its unapologetic homage to video games, The Smashing Pumpkins, geeks, and comic book nerds. This movie isn’t perfect but really what movie is? I would say this movie is definitely worth giving a chance too as long as your down for a wild ride, and some whip smart dialog.
Simply amazing. This book is inspiring and very illuminating for anyone who loves Bob Dylan, the 60’s, folk music, and New York.
I ordered this the old fashioned way and I am so glad I did. I haven’t gotten a chance to fully digest the music yet BUT the album artwork is FANTASTIC! and bonus all the lyrics are in the CD booklet!
It’s true this film is slotted as a “comedy”. There is in fact, a distinct lack of funny in this movie. Although Matt Damon does a great job being this guy and you utterly believe him to be this dweeby, self important, compulsive liar. I have to give this movie major points for the treatment of this “real life story”. It really takes the “based on true life” film genre into new territory. But successfully? Not so much. This film falls flat in a lot of areas and really drags on with unimportant details. Some serious editing was desperately needed.
I really enjoyed this album even though I had almost writen off this band since I did not enjoy Neon Bible. Favorite song on the album “We Used To Wait”. It is quite true.
I just didn’t think it was possible for someone to use words like bombazine and tarlatan, panoply and balustrade and not come off sounding like you were a pompous ass. Colin Meloy proves it can be done with astounding clarity. I often find myself googling historical facts, famous names of far of cities and uncommon words just to figure out the full meaning of his elaborate tales. I learn from Mr. Meloys music. How many bands can you say that about?
Although The Decemberists go on from this point to record albums with over reaching themes and even a rock opera that would make Pink Floyd proud. This album may be easier to enjoy because it contains songs that you can enjoy on their own merit.
