Out Of the Blue — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was my first viewing of Out Of The Blue. I had heard that it was Dennis Hopper being his anti-establishment self. Anyways, I have to admit the first part moved pretty slow and at times I wanted to strangle the girl that plays Cebe for her annoying way of laughing. I actually felt my eyes begin to close and was startled awake about 3/4 of the way through by a scene that was a bit shocking to me. I was like WHOA..the movie has switched gears on me. How bizarre! How Wild! This must have been very controversial considering the time period that it was released. Then I focused on Dennis Hopper’s acting. Brilliant! So, after careful thought, I have to say, I LOVED IT!

Brother's Keeper — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Wow. What a glimpse into a small town that I will probably never visit. Aside from the story- which was interesting, I felt as if I was viewing a lifestyle that was worlds apart from mine- living in Los Angeles area. Besides there being a touch of sadness to the story, especially when one of the brothers can’t cope with the attention heaped upon him, the was a tender caring side seen in the town and it’s people. It was more than a story about a man accused of murdering his brother. It was a story about how a small town comes to the aid and support in times of crises. I LOVED IT!

Walk The Line — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not surprised to see how I am not the only one that saw some comparison to the movie Ray. Both were very well done. I like movies like this because there is a whole upcoming generation that has no idea of the history of music. What an educational tool these films are. I was one of those educated as I know nothing about Johnny Cash.

The movie for the most part was well done. I thought the middle dragged a tad bit though. Phoenix gave a fantastic performance as did Reese Witherspoon who I was surpirsed to find actually sang the June Carter songs. This film made me think of how hard it must be to be on the road as a musical celeb and keep a normal life. Is it even possible? Especially for male singers. The temptation to remain faithful to the wife at home and also not to sucuumb to the pressures of the party atmosphere must be amazingly difficult.

This film left me wanting to know more about Johnny Cash which is a great way to know that this type of film has done it’s job.

Broken Flowers Review- some spoilers maybe.. — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

A couple of days ago I watched Broken Flowers. It was a choicec between this movie and Mean Girls. I hadn’t seen either but heard that Broken Flowers was good. 10 or so minutes into the movie everyone who was watching the movies was looking at each other and you can tell that nobody wanted to “Rain on the Parade” and suggest that maybe Mean Girls would’ve been a better choice. My first thought as I watched Bill Murray sitting on the couch in his depressed state was, “Hey, that’s my life.” But do we ever want to watch how pathetic we’ve become? No. I thought at one point it would get better esp. when Lolita graced the screen with her presence..but no, it just dragged on and on..one depressing moment after another. Don’t you think it’s high time Bill Murray stretches his character? How many times will he continue to play the depressed, I have no life..person? We get it already. The storyline was just okay. If what it was trying to say was the whole message of “Live in the present” that’s been said many times before. As far as the ending, or should I say no ending, I was okay with that. That does mirror life does it not?

A story about "The Complete Monterey Pop Festival - Criterion Collection" — 3 years ago

I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying this DVD. I’m not finished with it yet so I’ll hold off on a long review but if you love the music of the 60’s..Janis Joplin etc..you will love this! I’m going to watch it a couple of times!

A story about "i.d. bareMinerals" — 3 years ago

I like this because I can sleep in it and not wake up to greasy skin..not that i do that all the time. ;)

It is, however, making my face a little bit drier than normal and it does make your pores look larger!

The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I LOVE Stéphane Audran, which is reason alone to watch this movie. I want to believe that in real life she is just as classy and as sophisticated as her character in this film. I love the way she does everything!

This was my first Bunuel film. I knew nothing about him or his films prior to watching this one. A friend, knowing I adore the french new wave films, suggested I watch it.

There were definite things I liked about it. The color and style and the whole french thing going on..
The surrealism..hmm..I don’t know..I guess that’s what people like? I didn’t get it but I would still recommend it. Maybe it’s one off those films that one day you say, “A-ha!”

Look it up the info online instead — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

With the amount of GOOD films out there, esp. documentaries, you can find out everything that happened quicker just by looking it up on line on Wikipedia! I tried to watch this no less than 3 times and each time I did get a little further but could never seem to finish it. So I sent it back.

THUMBSUCKER-Dysfunctional is the word — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

that best describes Thumbsucker’s family so it was easy for me to relate to. Thoughts that ran through my mind as I watched it were

I want to be smarter and more educated.
How scary that drugs are given out so freely as cure-alls and also do they take away who you really are..weaknesses and all or is this up for debate? (No pun intended)

A story about "Goldie: A Lotus Grows in the Mud" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished this book and it was GREAT! Now I feel I know Goldie, the woman instead of Goldie the movie star! There are parts of the book that do tell about some of the behind the scenes happenings but mostly it is about her personal life and the life lessons she has learned. I was able to relate to alot that she was saying! Now, I’m going to have to put her on my people to meet section as she is someone I’d love to have coffee with.

It took me awhile to get through this book because I wanted to ponder each chapter.

I think you will really like it!
