This is not a bad read. My copy is not a recent one, and was from the 1960’s so there were a few typos. But the fact that this book is still being reprinted so far from it’s original publication date gives you a good idea of how well it is written.

I thought the book did it’s best to give a good summary of the Civil War. Most of it’s chapters and content is based on the military movements and actions, and not as much is spent on the ideology, politics, culture and other sentiments at the time.

I appreciated this book for what it was: a well-written account of the Civil War. It’s a good first step into hopefully more books about this era.
