Like Water for Chocolate - the Teens way — 3 years ago
While reading this, it brought to mind a similiar book “The Food of Love” by Anthony Capella. The basic premise is of the coolguy-hotchick-fatguy love triangle with the added complication of the 2 guys being best friends despite appearances. The fatguy is unable to announce his love for hotchick and so vicariously demonstrates it by helping his friend ie. coolguy, seduce (although since this is a teen read its a PG-rated seduction) hotchick with glorious food. Each chapter is headed with a name of a recipe which is then included at the end of the chapter.
Flavor of the Week, is definitely suited for teens as its a light read. For adults, it would be a little too superficial. The recipes, however, seem nice. I may want to give a few a try.
Some of the more interesting recipes are homemade fig cookie bar thingies, spicy tomato soup, pepitas, and a menu set for sudcing called aphrodisia which includes spice-dusted figs, arugulan and blood orange, chocolate bonbons, and ginger-candied violets.
