Terrible movie, despite the semi-impressive special effects. No acting skills to be found anywhere in it.

From its comic book plot (mysterious “Fantom” attempts to start a world war) to its collection of fantasy characters (Quartermain, Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Dr. Jekyll, et al), this is someone’s bad dream gone berserk. Testosterone-filled teens may enjoy watching zepplins explode and Venetian buildings fall like dominoes. I’ll admit, the special effects were rather impressive. But as movies go, I expected a lot more out of Sean Connery. Like some acting? If you miss the League, you won’t be missing much.
