I’ve read a few of Kingsolver’s other works and this is my least favorite so far. The writing was well-done but I found the plot predictable (and a little Lifetime movie-ish). My main problem was trying to care about the main character, who I found insanely annoying. Every other storyline in the novel was more interesting than her arc of feeling like an outsider in her own hometown. I put down the book several times just to say, “God, get over yourself.”
