I love reimagined fairy tales and things of this sort, and I really loved Wicked and Son Of A Witch.

Disposition of an Oracle is due to be the third book in Gregory Maguire’s Wicked Cycle.

In an interview with the Akron Beacon Journal in October 2006, Maguire said “this book will be about the differing moralities… among soldiers, for one, and diplomats, for another… about decisions to wage war” and “One of the main characters is the Cowardly Lion”.

A few years ago a friend loaned me Wicked. I would almost say that book changed my life. I have been waiting and waiting for Son of a Witch to come out in paperback to I could (afford) read it.

And it was worth the wait. It is not as good as Wicked, but it has an interesting story. Liir is a compelling character who makes believable choices in his quest to find Nor (Fieryo’s daughter).

I didn’t love this book as much as Wicked, but it is a worthy followup. However, Gregory Maguire better write a third story in this series.
