Why I want to consume this — 3 years ago
I read Faludi’s book, Backlash, in 1998. It is a very good book that presents her research about the backlash against the Feminst Movement of the 70’s. In 2000, she put this book out, a sequel of sorts that documents the oppression and restrictions that men experience because of sexism. It caused quite a stir.
I have read excerpts from this book and always wanted to go back and read the whole thing. Recently I was introduced to an organization called NOMAS, the National Organization of Men Against Sexism, which is a feminist minded Progressive Men’s movement. In reading their literature and being reintroduced to their issues, it reminded me of this book and I decided to grab it from the library.
I am looking forward to a great read. Faludi is an exceptional researcher who has a lot of passion about these subjects.
