A murder mystery / crime story told from the point of view of a detective with Tourette’s.
It’s a fascinating look inside a mind not entirely under the control of itsself. Full of evidence of verbal and physical tics, the personality of the narrator comes through strong.
I had a hard time putting the book down, initially, but then at the end the whole sort of tangled web got a little too convoluted and a bit far-fetched and the whole thing sort of unravelled into a sorry-looking pile of ends that weren’t exactly loose.
So, I guess what I’m saying is that it had a huge amount of potential that was slightly squandered, but there are definitely enough good bits to make it well worth the reader’s time.
