WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t think the acting added much more than a little visual interest. I feel like I got more out of just listening to an audio download of Murrow’s original speech.

But I thought it was still worth watching, even if just to bring attention to these events.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’d rather have watched a documentary. I didn’t think the acting & recreated scenes added much value.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Murrow deserves the exposure. He was a crusader in an era when it was not at all fashionable. And this film deserves the six AA nominations it received. The story is well told, well acted. TV journalism at its infancy, against the backdrop of McCarthyism. Fascinating. Do see it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Maybe I would have liked this if I hadn’t gotten burnt out from studying mass communication for the past four years in college. Watching this film was like having school in my own home.

A really good movie all around. I liked the black and white. There’s just nothing bad to say about this movie! :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

Tonight Jimmy came over and we got pizza and watched this movie (Benjamin and Maple too). Good Night, and Good Luck is a well-crafted story about Edward R. Murrow’s scrutiny of Sen. McCarthy’s House on Un-American Activities Commission (HUAC) investigations in 1953. It’s a well put together rendition of the events of the time that leaves you pondering the status of our country today and the absence of well-known journalists with the integrity and guts of Murrow. And of course, the absence of media companies willing to air such truth and the seeming disinterest of most Americans to hear it.

One of the best movies of the year — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!
You know the story, so all I really have to say about this movie is it’s definitely one of the best of the year. Hotel Rwanda was my favorite film of 2004, and I’d say this is my favorite of 2005 (pending several other movies I need to see on DVD).
