As epidemic movies go, this one adds to the genre by introducing lots of “coping behaviors” missed by other films, from looting and hostage taking to the tension and distrust between competing health organizations, governments and law enforcement groups. Whole cities struggle to remain “normal” as over 28 million people die. It is one scary movie, revealing how ill prepared we may be for a real Outbreak or “Andromeda Strain.” Well done.
