I am divided. The writing is excellent and the scenario is inventive, but I just could not get into this book or the characters. The version I read was about 350 pages long, and if the story really drew me in, I would have finished it within a few days. This actually took me months to read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Geek Love is a brilliant novel. It has much commentary on today’s events. It delves uniquely into the cult of personality that we see so frequently on the world’s stage. An inventive and fascinating view of the world.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I had heard so many great reviews of it, but when I finally tracked down a copy I couldn’t force myself to finish it. I’m not sure if it was the writing style or the story itself, but something about this book didn’t connect with me.

So far , so weird. But enjoying it.
Had to take it back to library and never really could be bothered rushing to finish it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

“There are those whose own vulgar normality is so apparent and stultifying that they strive to escape it. They affect flamboyant behavior and claim originality according to the fashionable eccentricities of their time. They claim brains or talent or indifference to mores in desperate attempts to deny their own mediocrity. These are frequently artists and performers, adventurers and wide-life devotees.

Then there are those who feel their own strangeness and are terrified by it. They struggle toward normalcy. They suffer to exactly that degree that they are unable to appear normal to others, or to convince themselves that their aberration does not exist. These are true freaks, who appear, almost always, conventional and dull.”

WORTH CONSUMING!

This has to be one of the best books of the ‘90s. If you like a little quirkiness but unique material then pick this up.
