I think a lot of what does not do this film for me, is its straightforwardness. I mean, Kubrick was so often about pushing the envelope, and despite the main story it’s hard for me not to think of this film as more of a showcase for Peter Sellers and his Goon-style than, say, a man’s descent into control-madness, or “forbidden love”. The intro for this film is wonderful, but the text at the very end is quite bad. Sadly, this is my least favourite Kubrick film and I rate “A Clockwork Orange” as my absolute favourite film of all time.
