Despite my normal reservations about reading anything on Oprah’s Book Club list due to the death and tradegy theme that pervades, I found myself stuck sleeping at my sister’s house due to a power outage at mine and between books! Her book shelves held various choices – most of which I had already read and some of which I had no interest. This and the fact that she sleeps late is how I ended up reading Midwives this morning.

Chris Bohjalian is a talented writer. The story holds your interest and the characters capture your feelings.

Eh? Might appeal more to those who are more interested in home birth. it was okay.
