It’s inspirational, heartbreaking, and the music is incredible.

If you must see the movie then see the movie, but its not comparable to the award winning play. Some of the actors are however in the original and they are able to have their beatiful voices transfored onto the movie set. HOwever some of the actors like Taye Diggs ruin Rent! completely. In the begining its obvious that he’s lip sinking when they were shooting this and that he was completely unaware of the words, his mouth moves and such absurd ways that reading his lips is impossible. Though I really didn’t put much effort into researching this movie, I know that it was quite frustrating i hear to make for the original cast and i can see why. While I found Mima to do a relatively good preformance overall as far as being such a young preformer as this actress is, the movie just does’t capture what the musical has always superceeded in conveying. ALso what the hell was up with that strip scene. is it me or was that alittle over the top. but that holywood for you right. Plus i hear they made rossario dawson loose how many pounds. fuck holywood for that too. i’ll take a normal weight actress she’s skinny as it is…. and how about some updating on the characters if they were gonna botch it up might as well modernize the boring 80’s style..FLOP

OK; my kids are here for their Spring Break this week, and they had a copy of this movie; I was a bit surprised that she had it, but I asked to sit and watch it, and I tell you, I can see why folks raved about the play; I cannot imagine the emotions that ran through me just watching the movie; I won’t lie, I liked to fall asleep through it, but with all the different emotions and conflicts, I found it kind of hard to pass it up; The guy who wrote this, sadly didn’t live to see it come to the point it has, but I can feel what he’s trying to convey here; Interesting movie;
