the first, i dunno, 20 chapters or so of this are really good, but it kind of petered out for me at the end, describing scenarios that were just too specific to be very interesting, in terms of perennial city development ideals. but jesus its a damn good book, well written, personable, and illuminates many of the problems plaguing urban societies, calls out the housing projects in new york as being failures as they were being built.
