Hellooo reluctant readers. Seriously. Slip this to your favorite young adult and see if they don’t come back with a better grasp of Iranian history, the variety of the Islamic experience, and a better understanding of the humanity of people so often portrayed as the enemy.
One of the best I’ve read in 2004. Have been recommending and gifting it to people. Fell in love with the feisty little girl.

A very interesting graphic novel about a girlhood in Iran.

Having just finished “Diary of a Teenage Girl” which in (partially) graphic novel format describes the adolescence of an American girl in the mid-70s, I’m looking forward to reading this book, which is the life of an Iranian girl at the time of the Islamic Revolution of the late 70s.
