WORTH CONSUMING!

rainy day in seattle (surprise). I had watched all the Bill Maher episodes on TIVO. A friend knew i like motorcycles and sent me the movie. I loved it. Stayed on the eliptical longer just to watch the finish. A feel good time. I rank 5 of 5 stars.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I recommend this because Anthony Hopkins is a superb actor and this performance is one of his finest.

One of my favourite things about reviews on this site is that when reading a review (either positive or negative), one can then look at the goals and aspirations of the person writing the review, and thus get a feel for what sort of personality does or does not like a certain type of film/book/whatever.

I mean, I’m not saying it’s completely ill-advised to trust the opinion of an adult whose recent achievements include pissing on furniture, pissing in clothing, or other variations on the willful incontinence theme, but… well, I’m just saying. Your mileage may vary. Perhaps some wouldn’t want to trust me with my sissy scarf making. It takes all kinds to make the world go around, I suppose.

But seriously, who needs films when you can be entertained right here?

Nonetheless, if you’ve got a couple of hours to kill I’d suggest you could do a lot worse than seeing this film. I enjoyed it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Based on a true story. Hopkins is superb. The DVD contains footage of the real Burt Munro, too, which was exceptionally interesting.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

What the hell? This was absolutely awful. Screenplay-by-numbers. I knew the jig was up the minute the Bad Boy Bikers crash his birthday party and challenge the old guy to a race. Yeah, that would actually be kind of funny, in a parody about bad movie cliches. Unfortunately, they’re playing it totally straight, here. I could go on, jesus, it’s one maudlin and cliche moment after another. And for a movie about racing motorcycles? There is very little actual racing. Don’t let the previews fool you: THIS IS NOT A RACINGMOVIE. I assume it’s supposed to be a warm and quirky exploration of humanity in the vein of Forrest Gump, but I wouldn’t know, since I never actually watched that steaming pile of horseshit. Couldn’t finish this one, either.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie is fabulous. The acting is great, the story is really moving and the speed scenes are really exciting. Anthony Hopkins does a great job in this film and the supporting cast really shines. I highly recommend this movie!

WORTH CONSUMING!

This may very well be the best film of 2005. The commercials made it look like crap. Worst marketing I’ve ever seen, which is why this movie made no money.

But this is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. Anthony Hopkins is great and should have been nominated for best actor.

This is the only movie of 2005 that I can say is pretty much perfect. I can’t find a single flaw.
