I read this book when it first came out; I believe I bought the copy; I just couldn’t believe that family would do family like that; it just made me mad; You had this family; most of the kids were very light; the mother herself was black and died; so the father decided to be and stay white and that he did; most of the kids who could left town and became white; married white folks, lived white lives; and left a young sister to fend for herself; She grew up among strangers and married a minister, had children and grands and had a fine life, but she always wondered about her siblings; It took over seventy years but she finally got a hold of a sister, whom started up a relationship with; And that lady died but they did have a relationship until the sister’s death; Unbelievable is all I can say on this story;
