WORTH CONSUMING!

Almost all of the movie was pointless and stupid. But the small, VERY SMALL, portion of the movie that was funny and clever didn’t make me regret watching it. It’s classic Will Ferrell… well maybe even a little bit more stupid than that, so if you don’t like really stupid humor, then pass.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This ‘movie’ sucked ass so bad I can hardly articulate it. Pointless scenes with no payoffs. A director not sure whether he’s catering to or poking fun at people in the south/racefans. And poor Sasha Baron Cohen. His French accent was more retard than anything. Seriously, my creepy neighbor talks just like that. And he’s not French.
What makes this even suckier? I bought the DVD figuring we’d all love it and live happily ever after. Meh. (Will Ferrell now has three big-budget awful movies under his belt… hope this was the last of them.)

Mindless fun — 1 year ago

This isn’t something I’d normally go see/rent, but I was stuck on an airplane going from Dallas to Seattle. It was surprisingly not bad. As NYCinephile wrote, Sacha Baron Cohen was over the top in his role. The best part was the outtakes and bloopers at the end.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Extremely funny movie! I went into this one thinking it would be awful. In fact, I was totally DRAGGED to this movie by my husband and went just to make him happy. Well I’M happy I went. Lots of funny stuff in here. A few strange/odd/unfunny bits, but mostly just pee-your-pants funny. GREAT Soundtrack, too!

Mindless fun. Notable because it hints at the sly offensiveness that Sascha Baron Cohen is going to bring to his upcoming Borat movie.

It’s no Anchorman, but still entertaining none the less. Will Ferrel is always hilarious and always reminds his audience of his no shame policy. Fun movie to go and see with a group of friends.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Any movie with “The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” in the title is going to be great. The entire movie is cheesy, hilarious, and insane. It’s everything you’d expect from a movie starring Will Ferrel and made by the same people as “Anchorman.” Oh yes, the knife scene was making me roll around in my chair, as well as the out-takes.

Who knew that John C. Reilly is such a good comedic actor?

Like a lot of these kind of movies (Anchorman, 40 Yr Old Virgin), I think I’ll have to see it a second time to really see the absolute hilariousness of it!

I could complain about pacing or not-quite-funny parts, but it was definitely worth seeing. Did the steak knife(s) scene slay the audience when you saw this?

WORTH CONSUMING!

My seven-year-old son had been begging me to take him to see this, so we went last week with my sister and her family, and OMG it was SO FUNNY! I very much enjoy Will Ferrell in general, and this film was one of his funniest yet (it didn’t make my cry like “Elf” did, but you can’t have everything, right)?

Really, it was just barely appropriate for the seven-year-old – lots of language I’m hoping he won’t repeat. :D But very, very funny – this is a film I’m looking forward to getting on DVD, because there are SO many lines that will become family classics – this could easily be the next “Zoolander” or “Master of Disguise” in our household. I laughed and laughed throughout this whole film. Things like:

“If we’d have wanted them to be wimps, we’d have named them ‘Doctor Quinn’ and ‘Medicine Woman.’”

falls over from laughing Okay, so maybe it’s funnier in context . . . so go see this film, if you enjoy crude, stupid humor. Lots and lots of belly laughs here. Also, I think it’s particularly funny how this film lampoons a certain segment of the American population, but I’m not sure that people in that particular segment of society will notice the jokes at their expense. Then again, perhaps they will. :D

And the kiss at the end – PRICELESS. (I knew it was coming – I knew from the first time they shouted at one another at the racetrack, but oh my, it was even better than I’d expected). snorting with laughter

Good film, and well worth watching, even if it did have it’s slow moments. And in some places, it’s just bizarre. But still. Very funny.

WORTH CONSUMING!

While I don’t consider myself a Will Farrell fan, I have never disliked him. He has a wonderfully affable way about his performances as the everyoaf, but manages to bring just enough of something new and interesting to the table to make watching him worthwhile. His latest—Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby—is not only the best example of this, but is also his best movie so far.

There is much to like about the movie besides Farrell from the supporting performances to the surprisingly well done and exciting races. And then there are the crashes because Farrell and director and co-writer (with Farrell) Adam McKay understand that people really watch NASCAR and all auto races for the spectacular crashes and Ricky Bobby has more than its fair share. That includes one monumental (and ultimately hysterical) crash near the end of the film that is interrupted by the longest bit of product placement ever recorded on film (which, I might add, is added so perfectly you not only forgive its presence, it just makes the whole sequence that much funnier). The film does drag in the middle, but since that third is bookended by some of the funniest stuff in a movie this year it’s easy to let that slide on the film’s good graces.

Very, very worth consuming.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m afraid to say it, but I think Talladega Nights might be even better than Anchorman. It was sooooooooo funny. And it wasn’t only the movie. Three people were sitting behind Michael and me, and one of them made stupid-but-funny comments throughout. For instance: At some point, Ricky Bobby says something about Highlander getting an Oscar for being the best movie ever. The woman behind us replied, “It was Citizen Kane, I’ll have you know!” And she kept that up through the whole movie. I was more amused than annoyed, and I didn’t even see Michael turn around and give her a dirty look.
