It’s really good, but slow and also ponderous. The characters just weren’t compelling, and the same characters aren’t continued throughout the book, as it’s divided into historical segments. I just couldn’t justify plowing through it (I got about 250 pages into it).

I’m about 150 pages into this, and am enjoying it so much. It’s a good historical look at Ireland, starting around 430 A.D. I’m learning very interesting things about the development of the current religious situation, about the settlement of Ireland, etc., but it’s all packaged nicely in fiction form with very interesting characters. I definitely recommend it!
