WORTH CONSUMING!

My mother bought me this book for my birthday a little over two years ago. It’s one of those books that warrants being read literally cover-to-cover, so I wanted to take my time in reading it. Two years is certainly a long time.

It’s chock-full of all kinds of stories ranging from the merely odd to the patently frightening. Many of the stories were familiar to me (and many of them are told with varying details, but isn’t that the way urban legends go?), and there were at least as many I hadn’t heard before.

What’s certainly gratifying is to have found so many stories I had not just heard of, but actively sought out in my youth. My friends and I spent many a high-school night exploring the likes of Pig Lady Lane and Devil’s Tree. In reading the book so thoroughly I was taken aback by how many of these stories were VERY local to me—several occuring barely half an hour from where I grew up and still live.

I’m a huge fan of the bizarre. Pair it with my beloved homestate and I’m spellbound. Very well put-together book!

Now I can start the next in the series of “Weird…” books: Weird U.S..
