With 76 award nominations and 46 wins, this film is a critic’s delight. But it is dark, too, and except for a few moments of much needed humor, it can be quite depressing, especially for anyone recently familiar with the loss of a loved one or the discovery of a spouse cheating. So good, it hurts, I guess. If I could change anything, it would have been to develop the family’s relationship to the land more, but it is kind of the point how detached and separated all have become. Anyway, it’s a must see and a great part for Clooney. Beautiful Hawaiian footage, too.
