WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ll admit there were enough chuckles to keep my interest, but the story is episodic and doesn’t hang together very well. It is at its best when the bridesmaids are interacting, a bit slow in the “romantic” bits and “roommate” bits. The Bonus Features on the DVD were a lot of fun, from the deleted scenes and gag reel to “line-o-rama,” which is just a ton of one-liners strung together at a fast pace. Melissa McCarthy is a hoot!

WORTH CONSUMING!

So much bathroom humor, but Chris O’Dowd SERIOUSLY, YES.

Fractured but entertaining — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This, another project from SNL alumni, falls between “Mean Girls” (very good) and “Tommy Boy” (quite horrid), possibly saving Wiig’s film-career post-“MacGruber”. This film is co-written by her, and is at its best a collection of sketches and at its worse just that, ending up with a fractured feel. It’s not as splintered as one might imagine though, giving it all a Miranda July-cum-“Garden State” feel, an indie film which at its best is ferociously funny, especially where women do feminism justice. Entertaining, yes. Recommendable? So-so.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This film had its moments but it wasn’t a laugh-ride from beginning to end. Which is ok. In some ways it seemed like a more mature, thoughtful version of Hangover.

I liked that the story didn’t completely follow the woman-is-down-on-her-luck-until-she-learns-a-valuable-lesson-and-turns-everything-around formula.

It was a bit messier than that, just like life.

Also, Chris O’Dowd is fun to watch as Officer Rhodes.
