Why I recommend this — 26 weeks ago

I started eating tofu when I went vegan some time ago, though I have to admit that I have had a relapse (I know, I know). Anyway, I still love tofu. It is the best thing ever, and why some people have such a hard time getting the nerve to eat it, is beyond me. It’s bean curd people, not pig fart. Anyway, my favorite soup is spinach tofu. mmmmmmmmm. It may not look to appetizing, being that it’s basically green soup with white pieces of tofu floating around but believe you me its yummy.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Tofu is GREAT—whether you’re vegetarian or not! It has lots of protein, and can be prepared a million different ways.

(and for everyone out there who’s skeptical about trying it because you’ve heard that it “tastes bad,” that’s not true! Tofu absorbs the flavor of whatever you cook it with, so it can taste like almost anything you want it to! :))

WORTH CONSUMING!

I take wheat crackers (I use Vita-Wheats, but I don’t know what the US equivalent is), spread the crackers with tahini, sprinkle them with a bit of grated carrot, and then place half a slice of fresh tomato on each one. Then I fry slices of firm tofu in olive oil, and place one slice on top of each cracker (on top ot the tomato) while still hot. It’s one of my favourite foods… and really filling.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s not a dream. Tofu is real!

I could sing odes to bean curd…but all I’m gonna say is I can’t live without it. I had some Burmese curried tofu once that was to die for. I’m searching for a recipe…

WORTH CONSUMING!

The thing about tofu is that it has to be done right. A lot of people who hate it have only ever experienced it plain – and I’ll be the first to admit that plain tofu is plain nasty.

There are plenty of good ways to prepare tofu, but one of my favorites is fried with soya sauce. It can also be really good deep fried.

Also, if in doubt, make sure you get the firm variety. I don’t mind soft tofu, but apparently quite a few people find it unpleasant.
