A story about this — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Despite being made for the big screen, this seemed like it should have been the pilot for a TV series. The idea of a lawyer using his car for an office, plus all the interesting side characters (ex-wife works for the DA, repeat clients are a gang of bikers, a sleeze-ball bail bondsman) might just make it on the small screen. As it is, the set-up within the set-up just works just well enough for a full-length film. Wish William H. Macy’s role had been expanded, but McConaughey had top-and-only billing. Great cameo role for Trace Adkins as Eddie, although you might easily miss him behind the leather and shades.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This is a waste of time. Sadly, Matthew McConaughey acts without charisma, but despite this, the direction and script are without control. There is no excitement to be found anywhere, and no character is interesting in the least. Despite some good music (Gang Starr, Eric B. & Rakim) and William H. Macy/John Leguizamo, the script is drab and dead. Nothing could revive this.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The characters suffered a bit in this adaptation of the best selling book, but the movie captures all the twists and turns of the book. It’s pretty impressive and should pleases the fans of the story.
