Ah, the book that started it all! It was after picking up this random fantasy tome in a cheap bookshop and realising there were several volumes in the ongoing story before it… well, let’s just say I have a nasty habit of buying entire series. Three original Shannara books, four in the Heritage series, and a prequel… and a lot of repetative story lines.

However, this one was a lot better. It had a lot of fresh elements from the other books, and the large dollop of ‘Old World’ getting an airing makes this just different enough.
