A story about this — 2 years ago
Childless Rebecca (Elizabeth Perkins) loses her husband in a tragic accident. The movie is about how she eventually comes to terms with her grief, which requires the aid and support of an star-studded acting ensemble (Whoopi Goldberg, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kathleen Turner). But I could not get over the feeling that this slow-moving moody film was concocted by Polygram just to put Jon Bon Jovi on celluloid. He does an admirable job as the house painter who eventually rearouses Rebecca’s sexual interests. No serenades, just a sweet face and a compassionate demeanor. You’d never know he was a rock idol to watch this. But other than the novelty of the casting, I really can’t say it’s worth watching. One thumb sideways.
