WORTH CONSUMING!

Really shows that you often fall in love with someone because of certain qualities/quirks that that person has, then those same qualities are what you use as an excuse to leave the relationship. Also gives hope that you can fall in love again by realizing this fact.

WORTH CONSUMING!

‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ is excellent – it’s been a very long time since I’ve had such a heartfelt experience from a movie.

I initially thought Jim Carey and Kate Winslet would make a mismatched, non-romantic duo but they really did compliment one another in their up-and-down relationship.

His character is quite the introvert; hers the exact opposite. And in between is where they clashed, hurt and fell apart instead of understanding one another.

The steps they take to get over one another, find one another and fall in love with the person they initially met lead to such an incredible romantic experience that, IMO, can help us all take on a deep appreciation for that person we fell in love with and, some how or some way, managed to lose sight of.

Good flick – one I’d def buy and add to the chick flick collection.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have to start my comments with a somewhat backhand compliment. I usually can barely tolerate Jim Carrey. What tends to pass for acting with him is a bunch of mannerisms, facial distortions, and overblown characteristics that hide the fact the dude is not willing to be honest and vulnerable in his work.

This movie was a radical departure for him; for the most part, he kept his overly animated schtick to a minimum and what emerged was a tender, complex, flawed, and very real portrayal of a man who is torn between wanting to put away from himself the pain left in the wake of a broken relationship and wanting to hang onto the best of what he loved in the person of his ex-girlfriend.

All the actors were dead-on from Kate Winslett as the mercurial Clementine to Elijah Wood in his smarmiest role to date to Kirsten Dunst as the quaintly philosophic Mary.

My only question would be why does Blockbuster have this film in the “Comedy” section? Surreal definitely, bittersweet undoubtedly, but to burden this film with the label of comedy is to do it an injustice. While what we do to one another in the course of entering, working through, and leaving relationships can often be funny, I wouldn’t classify Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as comedy.
