WORTH CONSUMING!
A literally awesome tale. It kind of ends up jogging the whole idea if we will ever really be ready to get out into space.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING
not good. writing is clunky; characters are stick figures; ideas are not very interesting. decent suspense for the first hundred pages or so, then it drags on way too long. overrated.

Clarke’s classic of alien invasion of the Earth. Nominated this year for a retro-Hugo for 1953. A definite page turner that I enjoyed a good deal. The ending was a bit of a let down, but otherwise an enjoyable book.
