I listened to this book in audiobook form (all 26 hours) and I’m sad it wasn’t longer. I was immediately hooked… Dracula + History = entertaining story! Don’t be put off by how long the book is… it’s worth every moment of your time.

It is long and there are parts that are predictable, but Kostova’s descriptions and the way the story leaps effortlessly between different characters and time frames kept me interested.
An interesting tale which is being unfairly compared to “The DaVinci Code” – in any case, it is more well-written and the story itself would be exciting to any devotee of the original Stoker novel “Dracula” or 19th century Gothic fiction. The main problem is that the set up is so long and involved that by the time we get to the end it is so rushed you kind of sit back and think “That’s it?”. Still worth reading though.

Well, it’s really long. I am enjoying this academic thriller, but it’s a little bit predictable.

This book is so dull it took me a while to read it!
The prose is boring and there is no chance I could get involved in the story with such a tedious writing.
