NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I saw this movie with Claire on Monday night at The Admiral theater in West Seattle. The movie seems the typical story of dissatisfied people where nothing really changes by the end. Claire and I also felt that Jennifer Aniston’s character was just a stand-in stereotype. For whatever reason, this film reminds me of Your Friends & Neighbors, which I didn’t care for but also don’t remember terribly well.

a little light. and i hate romantic comedies. i didn’t hate this, but i didn’t love it either. except for how angry that one woman was. and her husband, who was so great. not enough people were laughing in my theater.

some nice close ups.

and how ugly were those clothes she designed? that cracked me up.

WORTH CONSUMING!

well, it didnt have the normal plot stuff like….rising action, climax, resolution (yeah i know i’m not exact w/ my words there) but it was still a good character outline type thing.
only problem was that at the end its like….screen goes black, credits start to roll, and i (along w/ the other people in the theatre) think to myself “thats it?”

WORTH CONSUMING!

Nobody knows what to do with their money in this flick. The rich couple gives to charities that they have no connection with— through big gala fundraisers. Another couple builds an addition to their house when they only have one kid. All for a view that blocks their neighbor’s house and destroys that relationship. The “poor” maid pays for her deadbeat boyfriend to spend time with her. And the rich guy is a cheapskate. And there’s all sorts of status anxiety, which is right up my alley. Lots of rich bitchin’ in the kitchen!

WORTH CONSUMING!

This morning in the Pike Place Market, there were people giving out $3 Starbucks cards to promote some tv show featuring Starsucks CEO Howard Schultz. Inspired by Jennifer Aniston’s character in this movie, I hit up the sample givers on every block. I don’t really like Starbuck’s coffe but I sure love free coffee!
