WORTH CONSUMING!
Amid all the overt confrontations of the 1960s civil rights movement, it might be easy to forget the silently suffering black housekeepers who carried on their slave heritage under the control of white homeowners in Mississippi. This film, based on a novel, corrects that by revealing the bigotry and hate of that era, along with the irony of black nannies raising white children who would someday grow up to become their employers. Well told, well acted and well worth watching. Minny’s “awful” pie is total triumph.
