WORTH CONSUMING!

From the stunning visual effects of Asgard to the bleak desert terrain of New Mexico and the incredibly sculpted torso of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, this film is a total treat for the eyes. Anthony Hopkins makes a wonderful Odin Allfather and Tom Hiddleston as Loki is just treacherous enough without being really evil. The plot is predictable, but in a good way, quite true to the spirit of the original comic book series, and an excellent set up for the next Marvel epic … The Avengers.

You get what you want, to a ham-fisted extent — 1 year ago

This was better than I expected, thanks to the direction. I didn’t know Kenneth Branagh had directed this, but it may explain the inclusion of Anthony Hopkins and Nathalie Portman here. Anyway, the character Thor was very weird, at times a complete vulgar caveman and at other times a sophisticated gentleman. The comic-book format is what saved this film: it was true to its origins, and by that I mean that the whole ham-fisted feel that permeated the film was in-place. Definitely weak in some places, but the action is good.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the best superhero film I’ve seen to date. The effects are great and the whole production is very good.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Fun and action packed. I knew little about Thor as a superhero character, and I felt it did a great job of introducing him to me.

My full review at Epinions.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ll come back with a sensible comment soon, but between the Captain America trailer (how nice for Chris Evans to permanently be the ‘after’ super-power-injection shot!!) and this… ahem. When’s the Avengers out again? My head might just explode!!!
