NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I was looking forward to finding perhaps a little bit of inspiration in this for sorting out the mess of my own life, but it really just didn’t work for me, certainly after Italy. I’ll probably still give the book a go, as there was a sense of too much crammed in here to do any of it justice.

On the other hand, maybe a woman so privileged that she can swan off on holiday for a whole year really just is that annoying.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I could really relate to Julia Roberts character Liz. All I will say is that I wish I could do what she did. Lovely movie and book, filled with inspiration for me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was really looking forward to seeing this, and I was not disappointed. It incorporates so many things I love… food, travel, meditation, and Julie Roberts. It is a long movie, and I watched the Director’s Cut, which is 146 minutes, but to cram an entire year of living into less than two hours would have been impossible, and it seemed shorter, which is a reflection of good editing.

The Liz Gilbert character is difficult to get into at first. She’s got it all, but doesn’t own her life. The journey she takes to regain her passion for living is fascinating, not without unexpected twists and turns, and the inclusion of such beautiful locations as Italy, India, and Indonesia (I, I, I… the pun was not lost on me) just made it more fun to watch, as did Javier Bardem as Felipe, one of the men in Liz’s life. He’s such a good actor.

Food, family, love, spirituality, self discovery.. it’s all here. A journey well worth taking.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I hate it. I’m never going to watch it again.

as good as the book — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really did like the book, and like the book, the movie isn’t perfect. But it is pretty daggone good.

Best quotes (which I do not remember from the book but may well have been there):

-God lives in you, as you.

and

-Sometimes you have to be thrown off balance by love to live in balance.
