Brilliant acting all around. Listening to the King’s actual speeches as part of the DVD’s special features gave me an even greater appreciation of the wonderful job Colin Firth did in portraying King George VI. Rush handles being the quirky, uncredentialed Australian speech therapist, Lionel Logue, with his customary deftness. And Carter’s experiece in playing a fictional Queen (of Hearts, see Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”) made her a fine choice for Queen Elizabeth (I).
