I liked this a lot better than I expected! For me it’s up there with Saved when it comes to teen high school comedies.

To be honest I only put this on my “to watch” list because of Amanda Bynes (I think she’s awesome) but was happy to discover Emma Stone who was pretty awesome too (plus she’s got a really great voice).

And you get to see topless Penn Badgley, definitely a bonus.

For me, this was exactly what I needed. It was cute and humorous, not a laughing kind of humor, more of a oh yeah I remember when all that seemed so important kind of funny. I did like the perpetual puns throughout the movie. Also I wish my parents had been as cool and understanding as her parents seemed to be, so I had a better idea of how to pull it off with my own son. Being an 80’s kid I loved the homage ending. Good light pick me up…no pun intended. ;-)

Easy A isn’t the “Mean Girls killer” (knocking MG off the top girl+teen flick spot) that they promised it would be, but Emma Stone’s ample skill in acting makes this cute, funny teen love+comedy+drama an ok matinee. Suggested rent or buy the pre-owned discs from a dollar bin.
