A good reminder of why I live in a big city and not the Ozarks. What a spooky place to be a stranger and a worse place to be kin if you go against the clan in some way. Quite a collection of twisted characters, and a few almost likable. Don’t even think about what the chainsaw is for toward the end. Chills … really. Four Oscar nominations well deserved.

This was good, solemn and quite symbolic. A fair, sad and honest tale.

Powerful storytelling and acting that doesn’t feel like acting. This movie is something else. “Country noir”, indeed.
