A story about this — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Pam Grier to many of us was a sex symbol back in the 70s; so much so I didn’t watch much of her stuff until I got grown. It was a treat to sit down and read her autobiography, but there were times I was truly hurt for the sister. being raped at age six, having the memory as a child of being discriminated against while your father served his country. Loving and losing, experiencing cancer and beating it. to me, this sister is not only a sex symbol but a true soul surviving sister. 100% and I recommend the book to others.

Cool bio of a Cool Lady — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Before reading this bio I had just finished reading a couple of other star bios involving drug abuse, suicide attempts, bad childhoods and such. So it was a welcomed break to read a story about a movie star that was very grounded despite being in Hollywood. Her life wasn’t perfect (cancer, rapes, bad relationships, etc.) but she has weathered it well and with dignity. The book was a good and easy read. She did tell some stories about her relationships with Richard Pryor and Kareem Abdul Jabar but she did it in a way that didn’t demean or exploit them in the process.
