This was the first movie since the 4th one that I decided not to go to the midnight show. Afterall, movies 3-6 have been very disappointing and not worth the money. Now, after seeing Deathly Hallows I wish I had gone to the midnight show. Why? Because David Yates finally got a clue and went back to what made the first 2 movies so successful: faithfulness.
I hadn’t read the book since it came out 3 years ago, so I was able to come into the movie with a fresh perspective; I basically remembered who lived and who died, that was it. After I saw the movie I came home and read the book. The whole time I kept nodding to myself saying, “Wow so far so good!”
The movie cut what was necessary, didn’t add anything stupid or unnecessary, and ended it at a decent part of the book. I was expecting a lot of the dialog scenes to be cut, but after reading it, it was okay that they did. Like I said, I didn’t remember too much from the book, so when I saw the movie I was still able to follow along. Then going back to read the book all the bits and pieces they cut were like trivia rather than huge plot-holes like the last 4 movies.
After finishing the book, all I can say is they FINALLY got another movie right! It only took them 4 movies to get back to the greatness from the first film, but they finally did it. I laughed, I cried (finally some EMOTION with the deaths), and overall enjoyed the film.
I cannot wait till Part 2. Midnight show is definitely gonna happen!
