I have to admit that I knew nothing about Coco Chanel before seeing this movie other than she was a highly sought after fashion designer, and that I have always liked her more modest creations. In today’s market they would be considered the classics of fashion.

I was amazed at what a visionary she was and how she stood up to the fashion world and really made it her own world. She was such a strong woman.

I really enjoyed this quote from Wikipedia: "Coco dated some of the most influential men of her time, but she never married. The reason may be found in her answer, when asked why she did not marry the Duke of Westminster: “There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Chanel.”

This movie was, for Hollywood, close to the truth of her life in the early years. Of course they left out some of the more risqué parts of her life and filled them with fluff, but that’s Hollywood for you. Though I wish they would have left more of the real grittiness of her struggle to the top in the movie, I still enjoyed watching it.
