WORTH CONSUMING!

Cute film, has funny and touching moments of a blossoming relationship, however, the filmmakers were completely confused in regards to location. This is not a Los Angeles film. It’s a New York film or another big city more mass transit oriented. Perhaps if they never mentioned what city they were in it would have been better. I like the non-linear storytelling. I also like the expectations vs. reality scene. I’m sure a lot of people could relate to different elements of a budding relationship. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is outstanding as the lead character.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie reminded me of the things I miss about being in love. And the things that really hurt when love ends. But mostly the first. The small moments of utter happiness. It was realistic, and struck a chord that other romantic comedies/chick flicks don’t. For me at least.

Also – I think I need to wear more bows, and I think I need to organize a karaoke night with my coworkers. Coincidentally, “Born to run” is probably first on my to sing list as well.

WORTH CONSUMING!

As someone else pointed out the dialogue for this film was one of the high points for me—at least between the two main characters.

The little sister who is wise beyond her years is really starting to become a cliche, however.

I liked the non-traditional take on the romance movie. It will go in my top 10 for the genre.

For the soundtrack, the dance scene and the greeting card tirade followed by the awkward slow clap, well, it was probably just worth it for all that.

Zooey Deschanel is awesome and so was the soundtrack. It’s probably just the state of mind I am in but overall the movie really didn’t captivate me. I didn’t care too much about the characters, I didn’t actually care at all about the characters.

Some nice moments but it didn’t do it for me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A little spoiler alert is in place here, so read on only if you dare.

I really liked this film. The dialogue felt real, as did the characters. The script contains a lot of pretentious and impressive twists that all feel real. The film made me feel that the clichés and the little things that made the characters happy and sad are what mattered. That everyday feeling, together with the constant anachronistic jumping in time and the “supernatural” sequences (e.g. where Tom turns a walk to work into a musical daydream with drawn birds and a big band), the brilliant soundtrack (with Morrissey regalia to boot, imagine that) and a lot of desire turned this film into a great experience for me. Very cute, calm, American (I feel, as a non-American) and recommendable.
