I buy this milk all the time.
I don’t mind saying, after I heard about bovine growth hormones my interest in drinking milk markedly dropped.
I am pleased to say that I am back to drinking milk daily again, after our local health food shops and supermarkets started carrying this Horizon brand of organic milk.
From reading the labels it sounds like the kind of milk I want to drink. Naturally, people are skeptical about what they read on labels as well as concerned about anything they put into their bodies.
These days, one cannot take for granted what we put into our bodies is as safe as what humans have been putting into their bodies for the last ten thousand years, nor that it comes from the same natural organisms that humans have been feeding upon until the last century. Artificially induced genetic mutations (GM), artificial growth hormones, and subsequent wide-scale dosing of domestic livestock with antibiotics have seen to that.
However, some livestock and dairy producers are echewing the modern regimen of hormones and drugs that are becoming commonplace now. Their hope is to address the needs of health-conscious consumers by creating a better, safer, healthier product.
In doing so they might actually aid the ecology of our environment somewhat. Not to mention make a milk that evokes less concern about what is inside that cool, refreshing, opaque, white beverage in the glass before us.
