A very bleak movie but Johnny Depp’s performance was amazing. I wouldn’t say this movie is worth watching but I liked it, strangely enough.

while watching this movie, i didn’t know if i was supposed to laugh or be offended. i just didn’t get it. i usually love period films. this one had some very dark photography. the characters were confusing.

He starts in the very beginning saying you won’t like him, explaining that he’s lewd, lecivious, lecherous and all kinds of other nasty things. I was expecting a little more fun, more happy fun. Really it’s a study in how depravity and total lack of concience can ruin a life, even one as talented and brilliant as the Second Earl of Rochester.

Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed that study. And I didn’t shed a tear for him, as was the director’s hope, I think.

Ok, so I also went to watch Johnny Depp prancing around in a period peice for an hour and a half, and I got precisly that.
