Oh my gawd, that was the longest book ever!!

Okay, so not really. But there were moments where it felt like it! That said, I did enjoy the read – but you do have to be in the mood for sprawling, epic-proportioned-ness. And it’s still easy to see why people didn’t like this book: the characterisation isn’t particularly well done, the story – while ultimately quite interesting – is buried in detail (you find out what’s actually going on after 850 pages!), and definitely has more to go.

To my surprise, however, I am picking up the next book straight away – I do want to see where this is going. That said, I’ve also had to start something a bit lighter – in both senses of the word! – particularly for those extended bath-time reads ;)
