WORTH CONSUMING!
This novel is based on true aspects of Italy in World War II. When Italy surrendered to the Allies it became an occupied territory of Germany. Therefore, Jews were the targets of German violence. The Italian people showed great courage in hiding and protecting the Jews. Mary Doria Russell writes beautifully and crafts an excellent story that brings to light this oft forgotten part of World War II history.
