White Oleander is a novel just like all those childhood abuse memoirs... — 6 years ago
I liked White Oleander Ok.
It’s got enough plot to keep one reading, and a certain lyricism and eye for ambience that I enjoyed. That said, it was just another melodramatic trip through a horrific childhood, and I feel like I’ve read it already – as nonfiction.
Then there were strange things the author seemed to get wrong (I have a thing for when people use Spanish and then translate it all wonky…) and yeah…
Still, it’s worth a nice summer read…
