Ultimate example of character making a a change in a film — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
In fact, that is what the film does. A lot of films claim to do this, or try to do this, but don’t. This one is a stellar example of success by writer, director, and actors.
Lemmon plays a man searching for his peace loving son in a hostile Central American country. Each dead end gives him less and less hope. He rationalizes, meanwhile, about how his son was mixed up with the “wrong” people, and was a naive liberal thinker. By the film’s end, Lemmon’s character realizes that he himself was a naive conservative thinker.
Brilliant screenplay (but kudos to all participents.)
