Another standard Kinsella story — 1 year ago
It’s been a while since I’ve read anything by Sophie Kinsella. Last time I got pretty annoyed at the story recycling (Can you keep a Secret?). And here it is the same deal all over again. You start with an underdog heroine, put her in a funny situation, halfway through the novel you have her deal with a huge, seemingly unsolveable problem that she cleverly resolves in the end. Throw in the moody, mysterious, rich and intriguing love interest and voila, chicklit.
Still. I enjoyed reading this :) even though you see the ending coming from miles away, there are some plot twists while you’re getting there. And Kinsella’s writing just reads like a breeze (which is what got me into Shopaholic way back).
I wonder if the novels under her alias Madeleine Wickham are also the same.
